Lieutenant Shane M. Sloma, Professional Standards Bureau Lieutenant for the Lake Havasu City Police Department, has served as the Commander of the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy since 2017. Prior to joining the Lake Havasu City Police Department in 2002, Lt. Sloma began his law enforcement career as a detention officer and then as a deputy sheriff with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office where he was assigned to the Ft. Mohave/Mohave Valley area. Additionally, Lt. Sloma served as a police officer for the Bullhead City Police Department. Lt. Sloma is a certified traffic crash re-constructionist and has worked assignments in the Traffic Unit, the Street Crimes Unit, the Community Services Unit, the Records Unit, and served as a field training officer, a recruit training officer at WALETA and a recruit training officer at ALETA (now Phoenix Regional). Lt. Sloma is a graduate of the second session of the Arizona Leadership Program, and holds a B.S. from Liberty University in Criminal Justice: Homeland Security. Lt. Sloma is also active in the local community and serves as the President/CEO of the Caring for “Havasuvians” In Need United Project Inc (CHIN-UP Inc).
Basic Training Sergeant
Sergeant Frank Hayden, Training Coordinator for the Lake Havasu City Police Department, has served as the Basic Training Sergeant of the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy since 2018. Sgt. Hayden is a 12 year veteran of the Lake Havasu City Police Department, and a graduate of the very first WALETA class. Sgt. Hayden is a certified bomb/hazmat technician, and has worked assignments in the Street Crimes Unit, the SWAT team, the Bomb Squad, and served as a field training officer. Prior to joining the Lake Havasu City Police Department, Sgt. Hayden served his country honorably as a United States Marine Corps Corporal during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Hayden holds a B.A. from American Public University in English, an M.A. in English and an M.A. in Public Administration from National University.
